AppleRAID card died... the drives are...

In my MacPro (from 2008) the AppleRAID card died, leaving me with 4 unusable drives. It was configured in a RAID 5 setup with the four drives. Now with the raid controller dying the drives appear to disk utility must smaller than they really are.

I have tried zero'ing out the drives. Partition tools to find hidden partitions, etc, etc without any luck.

Any hints or tips to "un-raid" these drives so they can be used for something else?

Not sure what changes the appleRAID configuration would have done to the drives.

How much smaller are you talking about?

If it's a few percentage points (e.g. a "1TB" drive is reporting as 970GB) then that's normal thanks to the marketing efforts of the drive industry.

If the drives are reporting substantially smaller (e.g. only half the rated capacity) then that's more of a reason for concern.

What does diskutil list report?

Hi,

This is dramatical. This is the minimum fourth person i am reading who claimed to get some trouble with the Apple RAID card or something close like an internal intarconnect RAID Apple card drives.

I like to read them like a kind of post specially needed for me as i'am quite the same troubles with this f...... of RAID Apple card !

They gave their explanation we gave them a nice reply and then, what ?

These dramatical persons like the one here, seems to never come back, certainly because they don't need no more help...
